Why Use Certified?

SB-1160 Workers Compensation, Sec.12. Section 5811 of the Labor Code requires that for a medical treatment appointment or medical-legal examination medical interpreters be certified by either State of California, National Board, Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters.

CERTIFIED MEDICAL INTERPRETERS PROTECT YOU, THE PROVIDER,
IN ALL WORKERS COMPENSATION CASES.

1. LIABILITY: 

Using a Certified Medical Interpreter protects you in case of any liability; they are tested trained.

 

2. TRAINING AND VETTING:

Certified Medical Interpreters have fulfilled strict requirements to become certified.

 

3. MEDICAL VOCABULARY:

Certified Medical Interpreters have been tested to make sure all is interpreted correctly and accurately, ie: bladder is not the same as gallbladder.

 

4. HIPPA COMPLIANCE:

Certified Medical Interpreters have training in HIPPA regulations and medical ethics.

 

5. PROFESSIONALISM:

Courteous, attentive, punctual and responsible, Certified Medical Interpreters will represent you clearly, accurately and efficiently.

Doctors have dedicated years studying to become a physician, and all the members of their team have degrees and certifications. Why would you allow a person with no training, no vetting, no testing to be in charge of all communication between you and your patient?

To protect you, your medical practice and your patients...


Please remember if you contract with a non-certified interpreter or provisionally certify an interpreter for an assignment, you will not be able to verify the interpreter's skill level, which may jeopardize the quality of your administrative hearing or medical proceeding.

SECTION SB-1160 Workers' compensation, Sec 12, Section 5811 of the Labor Code taking effect January 1, 2018 requires that all Medical Interpreters be certified by either:

 

  • The Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI)

  • The National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters (NBCMI)

  • The State of California (CalHr)
